Chimes At Midnight
A little trailer I just happened across for what many consider one of the greatest Shakespearean performances ever put on film. I had the whole thing on my ipod once, but found it hard to watch such new material (it is Welles' own script, not specifically Shakespeare but bits of many plays cobbled together) on such a small medium. I'll have to try it again someday soon.

This is brilliant; thanks!
I've been wanting to watch Chimes of Midnight for a while now, but I haven't been able to track down a copy.
It is available over in the US - but for some reason, not in Europe; and Romania seems to be a no-post country for many suppliers over the water.
I saw this film many years ago and was flattened by it -Welles regarded it as his greatest.
I want to be the fat old man lying on a bed talking to his 'hostess'.
Welles, in my not so humble opinion, also did the best 'straight' Shakespeare film - Othello.
Technically it isn't available in the US either. A friend of mine tracked down a Brazilian import, and was kind enough to let me borrow it so I could review it for the site.
Haven't watched it yet, but I am very excited.
Search on Amazon.com and it pops up very quickly - import, but available, from 'these sellers'.
Yeah, that's what I was getting at. Their has never been a US release of the film, and the only way you can acquire it is to buy the Brazilian import.
People in Europe can do the same thing, they'd just need a Region free DVD player to watch it.
Can't all I'm afraid - restrictions on sale even of the 'import' here in Europe, and certain countries won't allow any sales (possibly postage) to others (I did try buying this very film from Amazon suppliers - no postage to Romania).
Shame - I have seen it, many years ago, but would love to do so again. I think it could well be Welles at his best as an actor.
Had no idea Romania was so restrictive. I would assume you could use a 3rd party as a work around, or do they check all incoming packages?
You miss the point - it is not this end - it is that end - and not only Romania, rather a lot of 'restricted' countries around the world - even within the European Union.
I have a cunning plan though, and my memories.
