Cardenio Comes To Massachusetts

http://www.csmonitor.com/2008/0502/p13s03-almp.html

American Repertory is doing Cardenio in Cambridge, Mass starting May 10.  I have really got to make more effort to see these things.

When you see a production of "Cardenio," you always have to ask, "which one?" Is it The Second Maiden's Tragedy, Double Falsehood, or something else? This one looks like "something else"--a new play built out of some Theobald, some Cervantes, and a heavy dose of self-referential framing play a la "Kiss Me Kate." It might be a lot of fun; I wish I had a good excuse to get up to Boston and see it.

Looks like you're right.

$70/ticket? Yikes! :(

I saw it. I've blogged my review. It's basically a piece of fanfic with delusions of grandeur.

Save your money, because one thing it definitely ain't is Shakespeare's Cardenio.
