Stage Beauty

Anybody seen "Stage Beauty"? I don't think I'd ever even really heard of it, although it is a very recent (2004) Shakespeare-eque movie. Today I saw Victoria Lane's blog where she calls it "...one of the most breathtaking films centered around Shakespeare I've ever seen." Looks like another one to add to my list!

I thought it was pretty good! About the period when females began being allowed to act on stage.

The history ain't all there, but I've seen it and love it -- it's very lush and gorgeous.

Helps if you know Othello, since that's the main play they keep doing over and over again from different POVs.

You're in the Boston area, aren't you? Where are you? I've got it on DVD...

Thanks Lis, though with the birth of our third baby just a few weeks ago I don't know when I'm gonna have time to sit down to a movie again in the foreseeable future! I got R&G Are Dead for Christmas and we're only about 20 minutes into it :-/.

It culminates in the finest -- I mean the very finest -- death scene from Othello that I have ever seen.
